Olive's eyes widened out of their sleepy half-lidded gaze. She felt like she'd been shocked with a cattle prod, but...somehow in a nice way? Weirdly enough, she hadn't actually expected to hear that, and as much as that particular word had sort of been rattling around in her brain for the last couple weeks, she found herself unable to say it back right now. It wasn't that she didn't love him -- she did, and it was weird to actually say that even in her head, now.
But she couldn't make herself say it aloud until she'd really processed that. He deserved for it to be something she at least thought about, first.
"I don't think there's a better time to say it than when I already feel like this," Olive replied softly, hoping that was an okay response, and leaned in to kiss him.
