The Beach, Sunday Afternoon

After waking up in some strange kid's bedroom, Lucky had made every effort to keep a low profile the day before. For all he knew, everyone else in the place was a Night Creeper, and he didn't want to get into any fights. Not just because he was alone, either -- he was sort of over the whole fighting thing.

Twenty-four hours later, after he was sure he was the only gang member in evidence, he went down to the beach and perched on a high rock so he could watch the waves ebb and flow. He thought of Veronica as he sat there, wishing she was with him. She was the only one he'd ever known who appreciated the ocean as much as he did.

[OOC: Open, although Lucky isn't exactly a brilliant conversationalist.]

Marty had a joint that he'd been in search of a secluded place to enjoy, and he'd thought that the beach might be it before noticing the dude on the rock. He left it in his pocket for now.

"Keeping an eye out for spies?" he inquired, pleasantly enough.

"Thinking about my girlfriend," Lucky answered. "I haven't seen anybody else. It's quiet out here."

[dollpocalypse]

"And probably full of recording devices, my friend," Marty advised. "But it is also pleasantly free of loud nuisances, yes."

So there was that.

"I'm Marty."

[ultron_junior]

"I'm Lucky," Lucky returned, then pursed his lips. He pulled out a pen to scribble something on his palm before holding his hand out for Marty to see.

Do you really think this place is bugged?

[dollpocalypse]

Marty gave a vigorous nod at that, then reached to try to pluck Lucky's pen from his hand. In a barely-legible scrawl, he wrote on his own hand, "Vicious rodents kidnapped me and made me report on things this morning!"

Lucky read that with a frown.

He was out of space on his palm, so his response -- once he snagged the pen back -- was on the back of his hand. Maybe they're Night Creepers. They do crap like that. Watch out.

Never heard of them, Marty replied, this time on his phone. Of course, he wasn't going to send it anywhere, even to himself - the cell network might well be bugged too - but typing it out couldn't hurt. Codenamed government subcommittee?

Lucky shook his head, looked enviously at the phone -- why hadn't he brought his?. In a hoarse whisper, he offered. "Street gang. Leader's psycho."

Marty shook his head. "It's bigger than that," he told Lucky solemnly. "They've got notes on everyone and trained animal spies. Gotta be government resources."

"Man, I hope not," Lucky said solemnly. "I don't like cops."

[dollpocalypse]

"Who does?" Marty said, removing the joint from his front pocket with two fingers. "I don't need any stormtroopers after my stash on top of the deaf girl watching me sleep, bro."

[ultron_junior]

"There was a deaf chick watching you sleep?" Lucky asked, making gimme fingers at the joint. "Creepy. There was some pale dude in my room."

[dollpocalypse]

Finally, someone who was cool about this. Marty fished out his lighter and lit the joint, then took a drag before passing it Lucky's way.

"Long-time prisoner, perhaps?" Marty suggested. "Wonder how long we'll be stuck here. My friends and I were gonna go to my friend Curt's cousin's cabin this weekend."

"Dunno," Lucky said, and then took a drag of his own. "Maybe we should just try to enjoy the quiet until the pigs show up."

[dollpocalypse]

"You said it," Marty agreed. "But first, maybe we'll get enough reefer in the air for them to chill out when they find us here. It'll blow their minds."
